Featured hole – Hole 4
The best of Castlerock course includes hole 4 Leg O' Mutton, a scenic 200 yard Par-3 with a reputation that precedes it. You play your tee shot over a winding stream, complete with bridges, to a raised green. There’s a railway line running right along the hole's full length to your right, with out of bounds all the way, and a stream which runs right to left, making things even trickier. And did we mention the rough here is a killer?
Known for its magical finishing
Many people feel this course's finest holes are the 16th onwards, when you're on the finishing stretch. The course is beautiful, with astounding views all around, but they're absolutely exceptional from the 16th, the shortest Par-3 at 157 yards. Here, the green hangs above the entire site with utterly magnificent views. No wonder the 16th's nickname is 'summit'. The 17th is equally dramatic, a 493 yard stunner that you play to the sea and town against another amazing backdrop. Last but not least the 18th hole delivers a tricky right turn of a dogleg to keep you on your toes, climbing steeply towards the green and an awe-inspiring closing hole. Beat that and you're really on a roll.
