No, our Old Course tee times are sold within a fully managed luxury golf tour programme which includes accommodation in one of our partner hotels. The minimum stay in St Andrews is four nights.

You should begin to plan your trip 12-18 months in advance to be sure of getting that Old Course time. We will be able to confirm your exact Old Course time by the end of September the year before you travel. Other courses open their books at different times so we may not be able to confirm ALL tee times at time of booking.

Ideally, you’ll book in four-ball spots, but we provide specific dates for twosomes throughout the season

The only other option for a single golfer is to get to the starter very early in the morning to be listed on the "Singles list" and wait for an opening.

St Andrews Links does not accept bookings from single golfers, and some of the other famous courses have similar policies. Generally, a single golfer would approach the starter and ask when the next opening might be. On the Old Course, you have to get there very early in order to be listed on the “Singles List” for play that day.

Make sure you bring your handicap certificate to the first tee and present it to the Starter.  (Generally a GHIN card or similar is what is expected). It's your passport to the oldest course in the world. The maximum handicap is 36 for men and ladies on the Old Course. Handicap requirements vary at other courses, but our team will keep you informed when you book.

It’s closed every Sunday (apart from when there are tournaments taking place) and we can’t pre-book on Saturdays. It closes in early May, the middle two weeks in September and during the Dunhill Links Trophy which is alternately last week of September or first week of October.

We need to know what dates you can travel, the room type you want and the hotel of your choice, the courses you want to play and we’ll give you a quotation based on that information. If it’s acceptable, you email your acceptance and you will receive an email of our Terms & Conditions. Once you have accepted those, you will receive your invoice and you can then pay online, or by wire transfer.

Yes, just let us have your flight details, and we will organise the transport according to group size and let you know the cost.

When you book your programme, please let us know how many caddies you want for your golfers, and at which courses and we will make the requests in advance. Caddies are not guaranteed but we have an excellent record of securing them for our golfers. Caddies are paid in cash at the end of each round and you should ensure you have enough British Pounds with you as we cannot assist with cash.

Most of the courses in Scotland are walking courses, and carts are not available unless you are physically disabled. Most of the courses only have one cart available for disabled golfers, so an early request is essential

Yes, it’s no problem. Please let us know if you want Gents or Ladies, right or left handed.

When you arrive in St Andrews, one of our ground team will meet you at your hotel. They will arrange your pick up time, explain how the programme will run over the duration of the trip, and will accompany you to golf each day. Our office is located 150yds from the 1^st tee of the Old Course so we are on hand when you need us.

If you have to cancel for any reason, all payments are non-refundable. This is the reason we encourage all of our customers to take out travel insurance.

Scottish weather is well known to be unpredictable, but it’s likely to be a mix of conditions. It’s sensible to expect a little rain and wind.

You should plan for varied weather. Wet weather gear should be included and please bring layers so that you can add or shed clothing as required. We will let you know if any of your chosen courses require jacket & tie in the clubhouse.

You can fly direct to Scotland from North America with US Airways, United, Air Transat,Canadian Affair,Virgin Atlantic and WestJet. Also, services including Icelandair, British Airways,KLM, Air France, among others, fly to main European hubs which can be used for onward travel to Scotland. The major European airport hubs include Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Frankfurt am Maine, Amsterdam Schipol and Reykjavik-Keflavik Airport.

The nearest international airport is Edinburgh (approx 60 mins) and is the route that most of our customers use, but if you are playing on the West Coast, then we may  suggest that you arrive or depart out of Glasgow (120 mins from St Andrews, 75 mins from Turnberry). Your Experience St Andrews contact will make appropriate recommendations in the lead up to your arrival.

In general, waiting staff would get 10-15% if the service has been acceptable. Caddies are generally tipped £20 per round. Bell staff would expect approx £3 per bag. Drivers would get roughly 10% of the fare. Tipping in Scotland is a little unstructured and should be given in recognition of the actual service received. Your Experience St Andrews contact can explain further if required.

As the weather in Scotland can be very cold & unpredictable during the winter months, and the Old Course is played off fairway mats during most of this period, our programmes are only available from mid-April – mid-October. Whilst we can’t guarantee good weather, we do have some lovely summer days. Average temps are as follows

The currency in the UK is the British Pound. You will need to have cash to pay caddies. There are ATM’s in the town for you to withdraw cash. None of the hotels have ATMs (except Gleneagles).
