The Carrick

Welcome to Loch Lomond where, as Open Champion Paul Lawrie says, “Doug Carrick’s spectacular course layout is a true test of golf. The changes in elevation allow you to enjoy unparalleled views across Loch Lomond.” It's an experience studded with stunning greens and the “bonny, bonny banks” of Loch Lomond are so much more vivid than any words can describe.

The Carrick golf course is a relatively new addition to the West Coast golfing portfolio and its USGA-specification greens means the course is open all year round. It's also a hazardous, worthy opponent, and represents a distinct challenge.  Doug Carrick, the Canadian designer, has woven together all the elements required to deliver an outstanding course featuring just the right blend of playability and variety; resultantly, this course has something to offer players of all abilities.

This is also the only golf course in the country that manages to span both the Scottish lowlands and the Highlands, with nine holes in each, and swelling views on the 10th. Peppered with bunkers and challenging heathland heather on the back nine, the Carrick golf course is a true test of your mettle, and is home to some of the best putting surfaces in Scotland.

Featured hole – Hole 14

Your Carrick golf experience comes to a thrilling head with this signature hole at the northernmost end of the course. The 199 yard, par-3 14th hole, called Tappet Doon, delivers a cool, straight shot downhill toward the loch's shores and comes with some of the finest views. If you can stand at the elevated tee 60 feet above the hole and remain unmoved by the awesome beauty of the surroundings, you're as unique as this splendid course!

Known for USGA spec greens and amazing putting surfaces

USGA specification greens are the name of the game at The Carrick, which also provides some of Scotland's best putting surfaces. The course practice facility is also known far and wide, an island green perched in the centre of a lagoon making a treacherous test for even the most accomplished players. The sheer variety of play is also a big draw, with nine classic Scottish Lowland holes dotted along the fringes of the loch and the other nine featuring Highland heath and tees off steeply sloping fairways.
