Brora

In 1923 the famous 'Braid's Plan' resulted in a full 194 acres of Scottish links land transformed into the fabulous Brora golf course where visitors enjoy bent grass and beach sand, burn water and gorse in glorious yellow May bloom. There's even a railway, which comes into play from the tenth tee.

Brora's front nine closely follows the contours of scenic Kintradwell Bay, with the foothills of the Sutherland Hills and Ben Bhraggie in clear view as a dramatic backdrop to your game. Although the front and back nines follow a typical links layout, don’t be fooled. As any good links golfer knows, all it takes is one of the region's famously 'gentle' breezes, and you're suddenly looking at an entirely different game!

Play Brora and you add your name to 126 years of exceptional golf, on a golf course design that's widely recognised as being one of James Braid’s finest pieces of work. A Brora golf experience delivers much more than glorious views, fun and worthy challenges. This course is known far and wide for its sheer quality, an accolade in a nation where the game is taken with the utmost seriousness.

Featured hole – Hole 18

Your Brora golf experience culminates at the second of two notorious short holes. The first, hole 13, aptly called Snake, winds over to the sea, but the 18th offers the challenge of protecting your score against a bunkered green that’s a 200 yard carry away, witnessed by players relaxing in the nearby clubhouse.

Known for majestic views and temperamental winds

Brora lets you experience for yourself all the delights of a traditional Scottish links golf, complete with beach and sea views so lovely you'll have to work hard not to be distracted from your game. You'll enjoy a true a classic layout complete with a nice, deceptively easy opening hole, plus further short holes that mean you'll have to think on your feet, adapting your play depending on whether the course is running fast or slow. Brora is also known for its keen winds, which can transform an ordinary day's play into something seriously tricky.
